AG&P FOUNDATION PLANTS 2000 TREES TO SAVE MOTHER EARTH

July 2, 2009 – The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) joined hands in planting 2000 trees with AG&P Company of Manila Foundation, Inc. and the Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila, Inc. in Sta. Maria, Bauan, Batangas in collaboration with the Barangay Officials on the theme "Nurture the Nature, Adopt a Tree program". The second year Environmental Protection campaign of AG&P foundation marked its 4000th trees planted in Bauan, in the province of Batangas. Seeing ahead a greener and more environment friendly society, AG&P Foundation sewed the mountains of Sta. Maria with 1.2 feet tall Mahogany trees in 1.5X1.5 flora expanse. Just last year, the foundation planted 700, 1.5X1.5, mahogany trees along the banks of Tabok River and grew 7 feet on its anniversary on July 1, 2009. The River is now an ecology park visited by thousands of people and is being protected by AG&P Foundation. The two (2) hectare land owned by Adoracion Bagsit Calingasan was temporarily leased to AG&P for 5 years without fee in support of the project with understanding that the latter will plant 2000 trees, care for the trees planted and have their property included in AG&P's list of mountains to adopt. The community of Sta. Maria, headed by Pangulong Restie Agena, invited 60 residents and volunteers to set the trees on the Bagsit land and tendered the adjoining lots placing tree guards on each tree planted. The tremendous pour of volunteers came early as they waited for AG&P Managers and the main guest-of-honor to commence the July 2, 2009 ceremonial tree planting under the new theme, "Adopt a mountain, Adopt a tree" program, still under the previous focus. AG&P Vice-President Roberto Paglinawan delivered a 10 minutes speech thanking volunteers, the Barangay officials and PENRO for the huge support each gave in saving and nurturing mother earth. He claimed responsibility in protecting Sta. Maria mountains as he initiated the first planting. Trees were solicited by Ben S. Aclan (Marketing) and Renato M.
